Ghost Smart Homes – Return & Refund Policy

At Ghost Smart Homes, we stand behind the quality of our smart home installations, networking services, and security system integrations. Because we are a service-based business, our return and refund policy is designed specifically around labor, appointments, and custom installations.
1. Services Covered Under This Policy
This policy applies to:

Smart device installation (e.g., thermostats, locks, cameras)

Networking setup and configuration
-
Security system consultations and installs
-
Custom automation services
-
Any consultation, diagnostic, or assessment appointments
2. No Returns on Installed Hardware
Once a product has been installed or unboxed as part of your service, it is no longer eligible for return through Ghost Smart Homes. We do not operate as a retail reseller. All installed products are considered final sale, unless:

The product is defective on arrival (DOA)

Covered under the manufacturer’s warranty
→ Customer responsibility: If a hardware issue occurs, we will assist you with manufacturer claims where possible, but we do not issue refunds or replacements directly unless Ghost Smart Homes supplied the product and installed it.
3. Refunds for Service Appointments
a. Free Consultations
If your booking was for a free assessment, no charges apply, and therefore no refund is necessary.
b. Paid Install Services
If a cancellation is made:

More than 24 hours before your appointment → Full refund

Within 24 hours → 50% of service fee is retained as a cancellation charge

After technician arrival or service has begun → No refund
If Ghost Smart Homes must cancel or reschedule due to technician unavailability or weather, you will receive a full refund or reschedule at no charge.
4. Failed Installations or Incompatibility
If installation is not possible due to electrical, structural, or environmental constraints:

A diagnostic or minimum service fee will still apply (usually $100) to cover time and labor

You may be credited toward a future service if alternate solutions are available
We are not responsible for failed installs resulting from:

Incompatible hardware provided by the customer

Insufficient power, WiFi, or networking infrastructure
-
Pre-existing conditions not disclosed prior to service
5. Workmanship Warranty
All labor performed by Ghost Smart Homes is backed by a 1-Year Workmanship Warranty. This covers:

Faulty wiring or improper mounting
-
Misconfigured network or smart home integrations
This warranty does not cover:
-
Customer-supplied hardware failure
-
Changes to WiFi/network that cause device issues
-
Vandalism, theft, weather, or power surges
-
Software/app updates by the manufacturer
